What's Going On With Child Abuse In Florida?

There are so many stories of child abuse and neglect going on in Florida. But is the real problem with the parents or the DCF (Department of Children and Families) and the Safe Children Coalition? After reading the many injustices that were carried out against parents and children on http://www.freeourkids.com/ you have to wonder who the real criminal is. Children are being pulled out of family homes and away from parents (for minor reasons and in some cases not child abuse), and are being placed in foster care where they are neglected, beaten and mistreated. And for what? Apparently for money, because the DCF and Safe Children Coalition are receiving federal money for each missing child. There's a bunch more to the case than the "freeourkids" site admits to. Google Greg's name, look up the info on the dog attack that caused the initial investigation ... Surely the system is not perfect, but this guy had major issues, a suspect history and other problems long before he got to Florida. The St. Pete Times did a number of stories on this case. Also, there is a misleading statement in this posting, SCC is only the "lead agency" for community based care in 5 counties (of 68) in Florida (and they are losing 2 of those counties soon.)

Among the items that you will find in this case: The Pounds don't have stable housing. The place in Seminole where the dog attack happened was a reltaive's home, they have since been kicked out. Melissa Pound (That's an alias, as she is not married to Greg, nor ever had her name legally changed) fled the state and absconded with another child - name Moses - due to their "persecution." When Greg did have visitation with the children, he did nothing but "preach" a fire and damnation sermon to the kids. There was no interaction that you would expect from a normal, healthy family. Caseworkers and GALs testified in open court that the children appeared scared of him. Greg was held in contempt of court when he refused to offer information on where Melissa had fled. There are also a number of charges and abuse allegations in Michigan, which is apparently why they fled to Florida. Watch his vids on YouTube, and tell me that you think he's rational and reasonable. His parental rights have been terminated and his in-laws (the children's grandparents) have adopted the children. There's a ton of info on this case available, including some reports where the mother-in-law comments on the story (and she isn't on Greg's side either) ... if you can find it among all the drivel Greg has posted.

The SCC is fighting unfairly and I would answer how if some of the persecutors that work for this messed up system would stop taking any sides and ask themselves what will happen in curcumstances changed and tables and shoes were on the other side. Foster the children safely not yell and kick and scream money!

And P.S....God Fobid they made a mistake....there would be no apology and no work to make it right until they wrap it in a pretty package through a worker they plan to fire anyway and make it all seem like his fault. I could do alot of complaining but does anyone trust this company is doing all they can to unite?

Greg Pound Fla. The comments dated 3-3-2008 are lie's. My wife D.L.#and S.S.# and all credit cards has her name as Melissa L. Pound. We have lived in larg fla. for five year at 9166 sunrise dr. in a four bedroom two bath home. somebody is full of sh__. 727-319-3705

I have talked to Greg Pound in The past and he's a good man. Anyone who has their children snatched from them is going to be upset without a doubt. How insensitive can you be? My baby Marley 3 months old was taken from me by FL DCF because her father was trying to catch her from falling. Where's the justice in there?

I AM A MOTHER OF FOUR WHO LOST HER CHILDREN TO DCF. i ALSO WORKED HARD TO GET MY CHILDREN BACK FROM THEM AND DID. WE LIVE IN A BEAUTIFUL 3 BEDROOM HOUSE. THE DCF HAS CAUSED ALOT OF EMOTIONAL DAMAGE TO MY CHILDREN HOW DO U FIX THAT? THAT IS WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT.
