Child Abuse And Neglect - When Will It End |

When will we get a handle on stopping child abuse and neglect? How someone could abuse or neglect a child is beyond me, but child abuse stories are on the rise and becoming more sordid by the day. Child abuse pictures simply chill me to the bone as I wonder how anyone could do such horrific mayhem to their own flesh and blood.
National child abuse statistics show that a child is abused every 10 minutes and there are so many unreported cases of abuse, that experts in the field believe that the number of actual cases of child abuse and neglect could double or triple the reported numbers.
That is a very sad commentary on our society today as child abuse stories come from all socio-economic, religious, political and philosophical segments of our society. In essence, it is not limited to one segment, but spread across all.
I believe that effective parenting curriculum needs to be developed and taught to all young parents by the private sector as it seems government is lax to do anything constructive about it, save punish the offenders. We might not be able to stop child abuse and neglect, but we can certainly limit it by education and training of young parents. Maybe, if we work diligently at it, we can make child abuse and neglect a thing of the dim past in future generations.
