child abuse and neglect, child abuse storiesSome of you may have heard about the eight year old boy in Arizona who killed his father and a family friend with a gun. There is not much news coming out about the story, as it should be, given the age of the child, but if this isn't a result of child abuse and neglect, I don't know what is. The boy wrote in a dairy that after his 1,000 spanking, he wasn't going to "take it anymore." Can you imagine a child who at the age of eight has to record something like that in a dairy?

Child abuse stories abound in our world, but this child's experience at his parents' hands must have been just awful. There is little information about his background, other than he was overly disciplined by his family. His grandmother said she was not surprised he did it because of all the spankings he got. Once the boy goes to trial (yes, they are trying him for murder), more will be known, and I hope for one that he gets excellent psychiatric treatment starting now and throughout the rest of his childhood to overcome the child abuse and neglect he has suffered.
