There are two kinds of people on this earth who don’t deserve the air we breathe. One of them is sex offenders and the other is child abusers. These types of people are cut from the same tainted cloth because often they are guilty of both those charges. After all the publicity the convicted rapist has been stirring up after being caught for the kidnapping of a little girl something like 11 years ago who he locked up in a dirty shed in his back yard, child abuse stories again came to the forefront of news.

I think this is a great thing because as sick as child abuse stories make me they are great for stirring up awareness, generating money for child abuse and neglect charities and showing off the faces of the despicable human beings who commit these acts. Seeing what an abuser looks like really highlights how there is no way to tell who is doing what. Any visible signs of child abuse and neglect have to be addressed right after they are seen. If it is a false alarm the parents should having nothing to worry about.

It was all about the horrible things people have survived as children. It also had some stories about kids that did not survive. I found it very difficult to watch. Yet I know that people need to understand that child abuse stories are real, not urban myths. There are so many children on the streets to escape the abuse from home. People assume that they are just bad kids who did not want to live with the rules at home. More often they ran away and stayed away because what is on the street is not worse then what is waiting for them at home. That says a lot about what horrible things go on unseen. I can tell a few child abuse stories of my own. I am a survivor. My stepfather used to hold my head underwater until I blacked out. It started when I was four. It ended in sexual abuse and an attempt to kill me when I was 12.
Child abuse photographs generally show pictures of children who appear to be bruised, bloody, frightened and neglected. We don’t usually consider that something like this could be considered one of the many child abuse photographs:

<img title="Child Abuse And Neglect" height="200" alt="child abuse and neglect, child abuse photographs" Abuse And Neglect" hspace="0" src="http://admin.moguling.com/Upload/childabusecharity.com/Fat Kid.jpg" width="200" border="0" />

Perhaps you do not think that allowing a child to consistently overeat until he or she becomes significantly overweight actually constitutes child abuse and neglect. After all one could argue that those parents who indulge their child’s desire for sugary or fatty snacks give in only because they love them. Well I don’t think that the parents of significantly overweight children are guilty of deliberate child abuse and neglect, but they definitely aren’t doing their children any favors when they allow them to eat exactly what they want whenever they fancy it.
To allow a child to become as overweight as the boy pictured above is to doom them to a short unhealthy life. Childhood obesity leads to potentially fatal diseases like type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular problems such as atherosclerosis that can lead to an early heart attack or stroke. Therefore if your child is significantly overweight you need to help them amend their diet and lifestyle in order to get rid of those extra pounds.

What Constitutes Child Abuse And Neglect?

I was reading through some of the blog posts on this site and I agree with the statements made by one blogger concerning the fact that child abuse and neglect can start before the baby is even born. I personally know a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. She took pain killers, drank alcohol and smoked marijuana while she was expecting her son. Her son was diagnosed with autism at the age of three and he struggles to live a normal life. There is scientific evidence to suggest that there is a link between alcohol abuse during pregnancy and autism. Fortunately the woman in question no longer drinks alcohol or abuses any kind of drug. She has stepped up to the plate and is doing all she can to help her son. Yet she still has to live with the knowledge that she may have caused her son’s autism.
Perhaps you think of alcoholism and drug addiction as a disease. However, the way I see it consuming alcohol and taking drugs while you are pregnant does constitute child abuse and neglect. It should therefore be categorized as one of the types of child abuse. The sad fact is that what I have just told you is just one of thousands of similar child abuse stories. Women who abuse their unborn fetus by introducing alcohol and drugs into its bloodstream should be held accountable for their actions.

Generally when people talk about child abuse and neglect, you think about a child who is starved or beaten, but this isn't always the case in child abuse or neglect cases. Most people don't even think about it, but child abuse and neglect can begin when this child is supposed to be safe within the mother's womb.

Where is the CPA when a mother is drinking, smoking or doing drugs like cocaine, meth or acid? I would call this child abuse and neglect in its earliest stages. These actions can cause serious effects on an unborn child. Why isn't someone there to catch this type of child abuse and neglect? I think the CPA should monitor a pregnant women's behavior? When you think about it, if a woman is going to treat their unborn child like this before the child is even born, you can bet that she will not take good care of this child when it enters this world!

Think about how many times you see a child who looks pale and gaunt, maybe their hair is not brushed or teeth appear to not be taken care of, this could be a sign of child abuse and neglect. You man not think so, but if this is what you do see, think about what happens to this child that you don't see!

The following video is about such a victim of child abuse and neglect. I hope that it will help to make you aware of how child abuse and neglect begins and how tragically it can end!

Over the past month or so there has been a great deal of media controversy in Britain about the horrifying fate of a baby who for legal reasons is referred to as Baby P. The British publics are extremely angry because social services failed to save the toddler’s life despite warnings that he was in grave danger.
The story of Baby P is one of the most harrowing accounts of child abuse and neglect that I have ever heard. The story is documented in the above BBC news clip. It tells how Baby P suffered child abuse and neglect at the hands of his own mother, her boyfriend and their lodger. He was found dead in his cot after to succumbing to more than fifty injuries including a broken back. Baby P was the victim of horrific physical torture, which is one of the worst types of child abuse.
Although this case has been the subject of much media attention in Britain, it is just one of many child abuse stories. Many children are subjected to the same kind of suffering as Baby P. The only difference is that the general public do not find out about it. If you notice any bruises, scars or signs of physical abuse on a child you know, it is your responsibility to speak up and alert the authorities.

Here is a clip from one of his quotes posted online:

"During the last 20 years, Ted Gunderson (this writer) has been contacted by hundreds of victims claiming corruption in the judiciary at all levels of our government. I have noticed a tendency by Criminal courts, Family courts, Civil courts, and Juvenile Dependency courts throughout the United States to base their findings on disbelief of testimony of satanic abuse, MK-Ultra Mind Control, and FBI, CIA and government corruption. This writer has more than 2000 pages of documentation alone on the CIA Mind Control MK-Ultra Program.

Dangerous child abusers, such as was the case in the famous McMartin Preschool Manhattan Beach California trial, are regularly found innocent. (See Ten L. His mother, desperate for answers learned that a raw foods diet could reverse diabetes. Advised of problems with insulin and diabetic complications, the mother led the family in new "raw" paths. Soon neighbors were whispering and complaining that Sergei and his sister Valya were being neglected because it was noticed that they no longer ate junk food.

One day while the parents were gone, the two children, then age 10 and 11 were visited by a strange lady who came to their door and asked many questions about how they lived. The social worker wrote answers in her book. When asked what they had eaten that day, Sergei who had been forewarned of this very occasion by his mother, replied; "Oh we just came from Burger King and we had a Big Mac and fries." Had he spoken the TRUTH about eating apples, oranges, green peppers etc, he believes the two of them would have been placed in foster homes for the rest of their childhood! What a tragedy how backwards things have become that the traditional (SAD) standard American diet is totally acceptable but anyone who is trying to make better choices for their lives is considered to be practicing child abuse!

My daughter had a similar experience three weeks ago. She considers that she has fed her children a far superior diet than most Americans, but on Thanksgiving Day of 2008 her ten year old daughter became ill. The following Wednesday, still sick; this girl was taken to Urgent Care to determine what was wrong. As with Sergei, the diagnosis was Type 1 Diabetes! The doctor insisted she be taken to the Emergency Room immediately. My daughter and her husband have educated themselves to use natural remedies and now that they knew what the problem was, they wanted to try to work with it. They took their child home and got her blood sugar level down 100 points within the next hour.

The entire family was shocked when the local sherriff knocked at the door and insisted that the child be taken to the hospital NOW at the doctor's demand. The parents were told if they refused the sherriff would obtain a warrant for their arrest and they would thrown in jail. My daughter informed him that they had no insurance. "Who will pay this hospital bill?" she asked. "You will," he said "since she is your child." After some negotiations they were able to keep her home overnight but they took her to the hospital the next day.

It is good that people are aware of child abuse and try to protect children, but sometimes people's attempts to prevent child abuse seem to become misguided and actually hurt children as all my grandchildren in that home were traumatized by this most memorable event.

There is not much news coming out about the story, as it should be, given the age of the child, but if this isn't a result of child abuse and neglect, I don't know what is. The boy wrote in a dairy that after his 1,000 spanking, he wasn't going to "take it anymore." Can you imagine a child who at the age of eight has to record something like that in a dairy?

Child abuse stories abound in our world, but this child's experience at his parents' hands must have been just awful. There is little information about his background, other than he was overly disciplined by his family. His grandmother said she was not surprised he did it because of all the spankings he got. Once the boy goes to trial (yes, they are trying him for murder), more will be known, and I hope for one that he gets excellent psychiatric treatment starting now and throughout the rest of his childhood to overcome the child abuse and neglect he has suffered.

Although its not something we want to talk about, the many types of child abuse in this country are an increasing problem. Our children are the future - and sadly we are throwing that future away. With my degree in psychology, I've studied the types of child abuse and the kinds of things that happen, so here is a breakdown of the main ideas.

The types of child abuse

Emotional - Emotional is hard to spot, but usually children are predictable if you have worked with them long enough. Sure they have mood changes, but they often pick back up relatively quickly (unlike adults who dwell on things). If a child has a drastic change in mood and is showing this for an extended period, it is wise to consult a counselor at the school. Although the physical signs aren't there, these types of child abuse can be very serious as time goes on.

Physical - Easier to spot and potentially of imminent concern, you want to look for things that fall out of the ordinary bumps and bruises kids get from school. If physical abuse is suspected, contact the counselor right away and make sure the parent does not take the child home before things are investigated.

Emotional types of child abuse

http://www.childabusecharity.com/2008/July/Emotional-types-of-child-abuse.htm

In the past, I've covered the types of child abuse and what you can expect from each. The two main types of child abuse we determined were physical and emotional. A lot of people are familiar with the physical, and I have discussed this in a little more detail as well. Well, today we are going to talk about emotional types of child abuse - as these are more subtle and harder to detect.

Emotional Types of Child Abuse - Self Esteem

Children are the most vulnerable to low confidence and self esteem issues. They are in the forming stages of figuring out who they are, and as a result we must treat them with utmost sensitivty. Unfortunately, many parents yell, belittle or outright put down their children. Noticing a child that is unusually withdrawn from participation or social interaction is an early warning sign of some serious issues - so contact your school counselor right away. By acting now and helping the child learn more positive and confident ways to be a contributor, you can prevent some serious issues later on in life.

Remember, in the end the kids who never get seen end up doing the worst things to others and themselves.

Taking Responsability For Child Abuse Images

http://www.childabusecharity.com/2008/July/Taking-Responsability-For-Child-Abuse-Images.htm

<img title="Child Abuse Images" alt="child abuse images, child abuse pics and stories" Abuse Images" src="http://admin.moguling.com/Upload/childabusecharity.com/ChildAbuseImages.JPG" />

Some people say that human beings are born with an inclination for helping the weak and innocent, but child abuse images say different. There are many child abuse images that include statistics like that fact that the rate of child abuse in the United States from birth to age 3 is 16.4 per 1000 children. Reading these statistics in child abuse images would make anyone shake their heads in disbelief. Children are the weakest and most innocent beings we know and the fact that child abuse images exist at all, is a testament that some of us are not born with the inclination to help the weak and innocent. And don’t think that just because you are not the direct cause of child abuse images that you don’t have anything to do with it. If after seeing child abuse images, and lamenting them, you continue your daily life as if there is nothing you can do, you too become part of the problem. We must think of all those children in child abuse pics and stories that have nobody to speak for them, no one to defend them, and certainly nobody to rescue them. We must decide to act, to do something about all the evil that is going around us. The way we behave toward all children is a direct reflection of who we are as individuals and as a society. The fact that child abuse images abound daily, should eat into our conscience like a cancer that won’t abate until we take action. There many ways you can help, just pick one and do it consistently—do not neglect your responsibility.

Do Laws Restricting Sex Offenders' Living Situations Really Have an Impact on Child Abuse Statistics?

http://www.childabusecharity.com/2008/July/Do-Laws-Restricting-Sex-Offenders-Living-Situations-Really-Have-an-Impact-on-Child-Abuse-Statistics.htm

<img title="" alt="child abuse stories, types of child abuse" abuse stories, types of child abuse" src="http://admin.moguling.com/Upload/childabusecharity.com/child abuse1.jpg" />
At this point in time, 20 states have laws restricting where sex offenders can work or live. For example, some states specify that registered sex offenders can't live within a certain distance of a school, day care facility or other location where children are to be found. I think anything that cuts down on child abuse statistics is a good thing, but I really wonder if these laws have the desired effect of cutting down on various types of child abuse. It's a good thing that sex offenders have to register with the local authorities and that anyone can look up the registered sex offenders and find out where they are living. However, I also know that most child abuse stories come from situations in which the child knows his or her abuser. Unfortunately, many child abusers are either family members, or family friends. Statistically, child abuse stories rarely involve total strangers, although it does happen, as in the unfortunate case of poor little Polly Klass, who was abducted, raped, and murdered by a predator who plucked her from her home.

Child Abuse Stories Update: WWII Nazi Bunker Used for Child Torture

http://www.childabusecharity.com/2008/July/Child-Abuse-Stories-Update-WWII-Nazi-Bunker-Used-for-Child-Torture.htm

<img title="Child Abuse Stories" alt="child abuse stories, child abuse and neglect" Abuse Stories" src="http://admin.moguling.com/Upload/childabusecharity.com/wwII.jpg" /> About a week ago, I featured child abuse and neglect news coming out of Jersey in the UK. A quick recap of that story was that staff members of the Haut de la Garenne children’s home were taking kids to a nearby decrepit WWII Nazi bunker to do heinous acts of abuse. For decades there have been child abuse stories coming out of this probably haunted children’s home.

A man named Austin Mitchell is asking the British mainland for an independent probe into the child abuse and neglect allegations. As I said before, child abuse stories have been coming out of this children’s hospital for decades but no major arrests have ever been made. Mitchell feels Jersey’s government is not trustworthy and an outside source needs to brought in.

As Mitchell commented about the Jersey government, “[there has been a] prevailing desire on the part of the Jersey elites to sweep scandal and abuse under the carpet to preserve their reputation (newsbbc.co.uk).” Child abuse stories must be investigated properly. I hope that the British media can make this such an issue that a real investigation takes place.

Img Credit: news.bbc.co.uk

What Constitutes Child Abuse and Neglect?

http://www.childabusecharity.com/2008/July/What-Constitutes-Child-Abuse-and-Neglect.htm

What constitutes child abuse and neglect? There are horrendous child abuse stories and child abuse images that leave no doubt in your mind that what has been done to the kid in question is wrong and evil. However, your political and moral beliefs could have a bearing on what you think constitutes child abuse and neglect.
Very conservative people sometimes think that a smacked bottom is not child abuse but a fair punishment to give a child for doing something wrong, hence that old adage ’spare the rod and ruin the child.’ Liberals tend to disagree with this outlook and see spanking a child as wrong. In fact liberals on the far left often believe that it is wrong to even raise your voice to a child because it is considered psychological aggression.
Personally I am left of center on the subject of child abuse and neglect. I do not think it is ever necessary to put your hands on a child because I know for a fact that withholding privileges or administering a ‘time out’ to punish bad behavior are both effective deterrents, just as rewarding good actions is the best way to teach a child that he has done something good and make him want to repeat that behavior.
Nevertheless, if you have occasionally raised your voice at your child, I don’t think you should beat yourself up over it too much. While constantly shouting at a children is definitely wrong because it can make them nervous and fearful and it teaches them that yelling is a good way to reslove problems, even the best parents are only human. Sometimes a child’s behavior can anger you so much that you raise your voice without even being aware that you have done so. Therefore if there have been a few occasions when you have yelled at your kid, don’t be too hasty to judge yourself guilty of child abuse and neglect, but do make a sincere effort not to make a habit of it.

I worked for a tutoring agency once and, during the training, we got to a topic that was uncomfortable for everyone - child abuse. Sadly, child abuse is a big thing in the States and, especially in education, it is a topic of concern for everyone involved - staff and parents alike.

There are many types of child abuse out there, but they are basically lumped into two categories - physical and emotional. In this post, we will be covering the physical types of child abuse and their signs, as well as what you should do.

The Physical Types of Child Abuse

Light abuse - this can be anything from red marks to scratches, and generally is the result of an over-generous punishing style.

Heavy abuse - black eyes, bleeding, bruises - these are all signs of heavy abuse and should be dealt with immediately.

Sexual abuse - less obvious, this involves behavior changes, fear of adults, strange drawings, feelings of extreme shyness/insecurity.

In all cases, these types of child abuse should be reported to the school counselor. In the event of something extreme, like finding out the parent is sexually abusing their child and they are getting picked up that day - the authorities need to be called ASAP.
